Today, I’ll test how StrongVPN performs on iPhone (IOS) devices in mainland China. hope all users planning to travel to China can read this test report before departure and download and install a VPN on their computers and smartphones in advance. Once inside China, you won’t be able to access websites like Google and YouTube, or even the VPN’s official website.

When I checked the version of StrongVPN, I couldn’t find the version number in the app. So, I went to the App Store to look at the version update log and discovered that the last update for StrongVPN was two years ago. This is an incredibly long time, indicating that the company hasn’t invested much in the iOS version.

Next, I conducted connection tests. In the “Settings” section, I found the supported protocols: IKEv2, IPSec, and WireGuard. I randomly selected about five servers for each protocol to test.

The results were disappointing. When using IKEv2, none of the connections succeeded; the app stayed in a “connecting” state, and tapping “cancel” didn’t respond. IPSec showed similar behavior. With WireGuard, the connection appeared to succeed, but the IP address didn’t change, and I still couldn’t access sites like Google and YouTube that are restricted in China.

In conclusion, StrongVPN is not a highly recommended VPN. If you’re not planning to use it in China, I wouldn’t suggest purchasing it. If you need a VPN for use in China and only plan to use it on Mac, Windows, or Android devices, it could be an option. However, if you intend to use it on iOS and iPad, unfortunately, it won’t work for you.
