8 VPNs in China Win10/Mac test – 20200619

Today I will test the use of 8 VPNs in China. The test equipment is mainly Windows 10 and some Macbooks.

Summary: Today, I conducted a series of tests on ExpressVPN in Windows 10. When I use the officially recommended Auto protocol + 4 servers to connect over the wall, all show Failed. But when I use the IKEv2 protocol found in this site’s independent testing to connect to various random servers, I find that the connection success rate is extremely high, and the speed is not bad. It is recommended that you use the IKEv2 protocol to connect to any unofficially recommended server. This method should be equally applicable to other devices iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android.

Summary: Test ExpressVPN in Macbook, the test result is the same as Win10. The officially recommended method is temporarily unable to connect to the wall. But using the IKEv2 protocol to connect can successfully connect over the wall, and the speed is good. When testing the Mac, I randomly tested it on the iPhone and iPad. This method is also feasible.

Summary: In Windows 10, the Nordlynx protocol was used to connect. After 10 attempts, all failed. This shows that the App connection over the wall is not available in Win10.

Summary: Tested StrongVPN in Windows 10, the results show that some servers can be connected. But the speed needs to be improved.

Summary: After testing PureVPN in Windows 10, the overall feeling is still good. The server connection success rate is not high, but the speed of some servers is good.

As you can see, all of the above server connections are similar to this, showing that the connection is successful, but the webpage cannot be opened.

Summary: As of now VyprVPN is currently not available in Windows 10.

ProtonVPN Win10 App connection test:

Starting test：Jun 19, 2020, 6:46 PM.

Description of the testing process: For the ProtonVPN test I set the protocol to Smart and let it automatically de-connect. The server, all I have to do is wait quietly. Let’s see if I can successfully connect to the server after a while, I’ll just wait 10 minutes. It takes about 5 seconds per server to connect, and 10 minutes to try about 120 servers.

Test result: the connection failed to connect to any of the servers.

ProtonVPN Windows Version: 1.15.0    Protocol: Smart

    Last, SurfsharkVPN’s app connection also fails to connect successfully in Windows 10, but its manual configuration I for trying, the situation is unknown.
