Last time I tested HideMe VPN for walling in Windows 10, and today I want to do a real world test of walling usage on a Macbook. Today, I will test Automatic and IKEv2 protocols, and if I have time, I will also test a few more protocols, and at the same time, these two protocols will be tested on a sample of 10-15 servers in the All servers list, and then I will test all the servers in the Streaming servers list. I hope that this testing will give the reader the most realistic reference for using it. If you have any questions, you can leave a comment (no login) so that we can have a better discussion.
Note: There will be a major firewall upgrade shutdown at the end of September – beginning of October, so be aware!
Barry: I’ve been hoping to convey a message to my readers that the firewall will be around for the foreseeable future; with it, using any VPN or other tool in China is a dynamic process and there’s no one-and-done solution. That’s why I keep updating the [Daily Test] section. The purpose of the test is to tell you the real usage of the changed VPN at the moment, whether it is available or not, and I will tell you so. In order to speed up the testing, I will be running only SpeedTest tests on it as it is only a reference for the speed test.

Summary: I tested all the servers in the Streaming server list via Auto Auto protocol. Only the servers in the US were able to connect, and they all performed well. From the test results, we can see that because I tested the US first and then other regions, the servers in the other regions could not connect after the US test. In order to determine whether the whole app is in trouble or other regions are really unavailable, I re-tested the server “United States For Disney+” and it is still connected to the wall, which should be an indication that the Streaming server is not working. The list is up.
Also in testing I found that the server through the Streaming list would be faster for streaming sites, or better for downloading, but worse for uploading.
Test for Other Protocol:
In order to speed up the test, the following tests are published to test the connection results, no speed test. The server selection is randomly selected, the main purpose of this test is to understand the feasibility of its other protocols over the wall, if found available protocols, for the speed test I will find another time to test in detail.

IKEv2 Protocol Summary: As we can see from the above tests, the IKEv2 protocol is also not available in the All server list, but in the Streaming server list its “Time efficiency” and “Server connection success rate” are better than the Auto option, but the speed is not yet clear.
It also has an OpenVPN, SoftEtherVPN, and SSTP protocols, which have not been tested yet, but I will test them in my next test.
