The new domain .ws of MissAV has been locked and may soon be closed again

The two main domains of the largest Japanese AV site, MissAV, MissAV.com, and ThisAV.com, were seized on January 13, 2025. The action was initiated by Will Co. LTD (FANZA) and assisted by the anti-piracy company Battleship Stance.

At the same time, Will Co. LTD filed a lawsuit in a U.S. federal court against foreign defendants Ka Yeung Lee, Youhaha Marketing, Promotion Limited, and several “John Does,” holding them responsible for copyright infringement on MissAV.com, ThisAV.com, and several related domains.

The defense initially argued that the U.S. court had no jurisdiction over the defendants, as most were linked to Hong Kong. However, the Washington District Court disagreed and allowed the case to proceed.

Ultimately, in the absence of the defense, the U.S. Washington Federal Court ordered a copyright infringement compensation of $4.5 million, which is one-tenth of the $45 million originally sought. The court also awarded control of the domains MissAV.com and ThisAV.com to Will Co. LTD through the .com domain registrar, VeriSign.

However, the situation didn’t end there. Just one day after MissAV.com and ThisAV.com were taken down, a new domain, .ws, replaced them and quickly spread across the internet. Most users soon learned about the new domain and used it to replace the original .com.

In an interview, Jason Tucker from Battleship Stance, who helped Will Co. LTD secure the copyright victory, stated that they have already noticed the new .ws domain.

But .ws is a domain name in Samoa country and a regional top-level domain (ccTLD), which is currently administered by SamoaNIC under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Samoa. If the Will Co. LTD (FANZA) party wishes to assert the copyright again, it will need to go to the Samoa Magistrate’s Court to do so, an action that will be slightly trickier.

Undoubtedly, Will Co. LTD and Battleship Stance will initiate a copyright protection process against the .ws domain in 2025, similar to what happened with MissAV.com and ThisAV.com. Therefore, MissAV’s new domain .ws is destined to be seized again after some time. By then, MissAV may once again switch to a new domain.

With the rapid development of internet streaming today, piracy is increasingly widespread, making this a long-lasting battle for copyright protection.

Now open the prompt for missav.com

There are two screenshots above. One is from January 13, 2025, when Will Co. LTD took control of missav.com, and the other is from February 6, 2025. What’s the difference between the two images? What’s missing? The missing element is the avatar of Japanese AV actress Mio Ishikawa.

Ironically, when users open the Simplified Chinese version of the .ws domain, they see the following prompt image, which reads:

I noticed that this prompt is available only in Simplified Chinese and Japanese. When users switch the language in the top-left corner to Simplified Chinese or Japanese, the prompt appears on the homepage as well as below each video.

How to Stop the MissAV Web Player from Pausing Automatically

When using the MissAV web player, users often run into an issue where videos pause automatically. Here’s a handy Chrome extension that can solve this problem effortlessly.

This is a general-purpose tool—not specifically built for MissAV—but it works perfectly for any website where videos pause when you switch tabs or move your mouse away from the player.

It’s super easy to use:

Just install the extension (NoPause Playback) from the Chrome Web Store, then add the URL of the site where you’re experiencing the issue. Click “Add,” refresh the page once, and you’re all set. From then on, the extension will run automatically every time you visit that site—no need to do anything else.

After installing the “NoPause PlayBack” extension, the video player will no longer pause automatically—even when you switch to another tab, minimize the browser window, or move your mouse away from the player or off-screen (such as to a second monitor).
