I tested PureVPN in China today. used its default preferred server Hong Kong. Used IKEv2 protocol. The whole test lasted almost 2 hours. During that time there were no dropped connections or serious speed downgrades. Very stable.
Tested: 10 October 2024
Test VPN: PureVPN
Test Server: Hong Kong
Test Time Period: 2 hours +
I tested the connection success rate of this server. Disconnect/connect, disconnect/connect, and this was repeated 5 times, and each successful connection took about 5 seconds.
Also I have sampled 3-4 US servers, 2 UK services and none of them could successfully connect to the VPN’s servers from China.
Summarise the use of PureVPN in China. It can be used for long periods of time, but occasionally it can be unstable and unable to connect. But as long as you don’t have strict requirements on the region of the server, there’s no problem using this VPN to access non-regionally restricted web services such as Google, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter(X), and so on.
It will be more difficult if you wish to use PureVPN to access streaming media like Netflix, HOB, etc. in specific regions in China, such as the US and the UK. This is because it is difficult to determine which servers are available at different times of the day to connect successfully. But usually Hong Kong servers are the ones with the highest connection success rate.
