December 21, 2021 China VPN test, last night around 10:00 pm when I was using the IOS version of ExpressVPN myself using the official recommended method “Auto + 6 servers” when there is no connection. I tried WiFi (telecom) and 4G (telecom) without success. Today, I came to the office hoping to do a mapping test on three devices – Macbook, Windows, and iPhone – to see if ExpressVPN is currently having trouble connecting or connecting in China.
The daily speed test will help you understand the following three things.
1. the VPN’s server connection success rate in the device under test.
2. The server connection time efficiency of the VPN in the device under test.
3. the speed of the VPN after a successful connection to the server in the device under test.

- Windows11 ExpressVPN Test in China at two sessions night - March 5, 2022. It is the first day of China's "Fifth Session of the Thirteenth National People's Congress", and this time of year is China's VPN block period. There are roughly three more severe lockdown periods in a year, in March, June and October. Occasionally, it happens occasionally. I remember that the March blockade last year (2021) and the year before (2020) was not very serious, and it passed in roughly 2-3 days. During the blocking period, most VPNs only experienced some server failures and a slight slowdown. But this lockdown I feel worse than before...

Summary: These are the results of today’s testing of ExpressVPN on Windows, Macbook, and iPhone devices. This test was actually divided into two parts: morning and afternoon. Windows and Macbook were tested in the morning and iPhone was tested in the afternoon. There is a difference here. Based on the above test I think that from last night to about 12:00 noon today ExpressVPN is encountering firewall blocking, there are difficulties in connecting or can not connect, IOS devices are difficult to connect successfully or can not connect, but in Windows and Mac can still be used, but the Time efficiency is much longer than before. At some point after 12pm, ExpressVPN should have fixed or upgraded its recommended 6 servers to enable iPhone to connect to the servers smoothly and also make Windows and Macbook have a better experience.
Another proof is that in the morning, when I tested Singapore-Marina Bay on Windows and Macbook, I couldn’t connect, but in the afternoon, when I went to “additional test” this server after testing my iPhone, the “Time But in the afternoon, when I went to “Last test” this server after testing my iPhone, its “time efficiency” was surprisingly good. I think ExpressVPN had a 15-hour connection problem, especially on the iPhone. But the problem has since been fixed.
